Cómo responder “Why should we hire you?” en una entrevista en inglés

Why should we hire you over the other candidates?

No compitas con candidatos que no conoces: “I can't speak to the other candidates, but here's what I'd bring”. Cierra con el impacto temprano: “I'd be useful in week one, not month three”.

Respuesta modelo en inglés

I can't speak to the other candidates, but I can tell you what I'd bring. You're scaling [X], and that's exactly what I did at [company] — I took [system] from X to Y and hit the same trade-offs you mentioned earlier. On top of that I've worked async with a distributed team, so I won't need much hand-holding on process. I'd be useful in week one, not month three.

  • I can't speak to the other candidates, but here's what I'd bring
  • that's exactly what I did at [company]
  • I'd be useful in week one, not month three

  • Atacar a los otros candidatos o soltar “I'm the best”.
  • Encogerte: “I don't know if I'm better than anyone else”.
  • Traducir «pretendo» como “I pretend”. “Pretend” es fingir; lo que quieres decir es “I aim to” o “I intend to”.
  • Decir “I can contribute with my experience”. En inglés es “I can contribute my experience”, o mejor “what I'd bring is…”.

«Aportar» es «to bring» («what I'd bring»), no «to contribute with». Y «pretender» no es «to pretend», es «to intend».

También te la pueden hacer así

  • Why should we hire you?
  • What makes you the right person for this role?
  • What would you bring to the team that others might not?
  • Why are you the best candidate for this position?
